The mission of the Benwood Fire Department is to reduce the loss of life and property through aggressive fire prevention, fire suppression and life rescue services and to provide support services and assistance on emergency medical services (EMS) calls.

From a modern and well-equipped station, the department operates an impressive fire and rescue fleet, including:

• Engine Company
• Ladder Company
• Heavy Rescue Truck
• Utility / Rescue Vehicle
• Command Vehicle
• Two Rescue / Evacuation Boats

The Benwood Fire Department’s rich history and tradition is backed by some of the most dedicated and highly trained individuals in the fire service. We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our citizens and visitors through extensive fire service and technical rescue training, public education and community involvement and the provision of exemplary fire protection and fire extinguishment services and related rescue activities.
