The city maintains and operates the Benwood City Park Swimming and Recreational Facility and two smaller neighborhood playgrounds at 13th Street and High Street and in North Benwood.

A highlight of the park is a newly renovated full-size pool that features a splash pad, water slide, 6-foot and 12-foot diving boards, 40-foot shade umbrellas, and a grassy sunbathing area. The pool is handicapped accessible.

The park’s other recreation amenities include a newly renovated playground area, three picnic shelters, a basketball court, and the Scott Melko Memorial Field, a lighted baseball/softball field.

The facility also boasts a newly constructed amphitheater. Located on the former miniature golf course, the amphitheater and pavilion can host concerts, festivals, weddings and other events.

A unique feature located near the amphitheater/pavilion area is a massive 50-foot by 30-foot American flag that proudly sits atop a 100-foot-tall flagpole. The towering display is visible to much of the city and to drivers on WV Route 2. The flagpole is lighted so the banner will remain visible at night.

The shelters, amphitheater, and pool are all available to rent for private events.
