- A Building Permit is required for any job including materials and labor.
- All requests for building permits will be made by completing a building permit application.
- Approved Building Permits expire one year from the issue date.
- All contractors and subcontractors are required to be licensed by the City before a Building Permit can be approved.
- A State Contractor’s license is also required for any job over $2,500 for contractors and subcontractors.
- A Business Registration Certificate is required for all contractors regardless of the dollar amount of the job.
- B&O tax for out-of-state contractors must be paid before any permits are issued or a surety bond must be posted.
- General contractors pay B&O tax on the entire job.
- Every subcontractor is required to pay B&O tax on their portion of the job, including permit fee.
- Any electrical work must be performed by a state-licensed electrician.
- For construction, additions or remodeling, a statement of the intended use along with a layout or plot plan and detailed prints showing the exact dimensions and location is required.
- A 24-hour minimum notice is required for all electrical inspections.
